Extra Help for Downloading and Installing

Downloading our software from the Internet is simple and convenient. Here are some straightforward instructions to help you along the way. Feel free to print these off.

1. After you click on a link to start downloading, you may be told something like “you are downloading a new file type of application/exe”. Don’t worry about this (or other similar) messages, it is just the browser’s way of telling you that you’re downloading an application. Click on the “Save File” button to continue with the download.

2. You may be prompted for a FILE and DIRECTORY location (“pathname”) to save the file you are downloading. The default file name should usually be OK and you can choose whatever directory or folder you want. If you are unsure about what this means, just click OK to accept the default values given. 3. Once the file is finished downloading, run the downloaded executable file to install the software. For example, if you download the EnviroOffice Suite Trial software, the file to run would be EnviroOffice_Suite_Trial.exe in the folder you chose. Important note: Make sure no other programs are running before you start the installation. If for some reason other programs are running, you may get one or more messages during installation saying “...file is in use”. If you get this message just click the “Ignore” button to continue with the installation.

3. Windows 95/98/2000/NT - Click on the “Start” button, then choose “Run”. In the “Open” box, type in the folder path and the filename that you just downloaded to. If you were unsure about the folder and file in the previous step, the file may be located in the folder of your browser or some subfolder thereof.

4. This should take you into the installation program. Just follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

5. Once the installation is finished, a new program group and icons should have been created for the software. Just double click on the desired icons to start the program.
